President William Ruto has officially opened the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover, describing the KSh3.8 billion project as a key milestone in the government’s plan to modernize Nairobi’s transport network and improve the city’s economic competitiveness.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony in Nairobi on Monday, June 29, 2026, the President said the new flyover will significantly reduce traffic congestion while making travel safer for all road users.

President Ruto said the new flyover has been designed to separate traffic flow at one of Nairobi’s busiest intersections, reducing congestion that has affected commuters and businesses for years.
He noted that smoother traffic movement will improve travel times while enhancing road safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists using the corridor.
“We are investing in productivity and competitiveness for our capital city. This Kenya shilling 3.8 billion project removes one of the most persistent traffic bottlenecks by separating traffic and improving safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists alike,” the President said.
Boosting Economic Growth
The Head of State said persistent traffic congestion has long slowed economic activity in Nairobi by delaying workers, increasing transport costs and disrupting the movement of goods along major commercial routes.
According to the President, improving road infrastructure is critical to enhancing efficiency, supporting businesses and positioning Nairobi as a modern, globally competitive city.
Part of a Bigger Infrastructure Agenda
The commissioning of the Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Flyover forms part of the government’s wider infrastructure programme aimed at expanding and modernizing Kenya’s road network.
