Speaking in an interview with Willis Raburu, Jalang’o said that he decided to venture into politics because he believed it had a bigger voice.

“I’ve always believed in leadership because it gives you a bigger voice.” Jalang’o said.

Saying that media will only give you a voice but leave you looking for a solution elsewhere, because as far as you have a voice that can reach a wide range, you also need the person to give you that voice, and that person is one who is in power, hence the reason he decided to venture into politics.

Jalang’o highlighted having been in a position where he couldn’t be able to get a solution out of the matters his community had, which made him go looking for solutions time and over again. He came to the point of deciding that he will henceforth be solving issues in his community without necessarily relying on anyone to do it.

“I used to be in this space where I was big already, but I was calling other people to come and sort out issues in a community that I live in—a community that I can change.”

According to Jalang’o, having been supported fully by his community up to where he was, the least he could do was give back, and the only way he was going to do it was by solving his community issues without calling out for people to do it, and that could only be made possible by him getting into power, which is exactly what he did.

He is currently the Lang’ata Member of Parliament and is serving his first term after securing his win with the ODM ticket.

Jalang’o prides himself on being the most influential and hardworking being that has worked his way up; hence, the reason he won the elections as an MP is that he believes that if he decides to stand for any seat, he will win.

“Anything I touch becomes gold. So the day you see me on the ballot paper as the MP, I am the member of Parliament… If you see me as a governor aspirant, I am the governor. If you see me as a presidential aspirant, I am the president. God has taken us so far that we can just stop this far.”

Jalang’o believes he sets the bar for everyone and takes pride in calling himself a trendsetter over the many things that he has achieved.
