Main Story
KUCCPS Announces Placement Results
Thousands of students who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination can now find out where they will pursue higher education after KUCCPS officially released the 2026/2027 placement results.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced the results on Wednesday, July 8, during an event held at The Edge Convention Centre in South C, Nairobi.
The announcement brings to an end months of anticipation for students seeking admission to universities, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, and teacher training colleges across the country.
Nearly 294,000 Students Placed
According to the Education Ministry, 293,869 students have successfully secured placements in various institutions.
CS Ogamba noted that the latest placement figures represent significant growth compared to the first centralized placement exercise conducted in 2014.
He explained that while KUCCPS placed 72,338 students during its inaugural placement cycle, the number has now risen to almost 294,000, reflecting increased access to higher education opportunities in Kenya.
How KUCCPS Allocated Courses
KUCCPS said the placement process was conducted in line with the Universities Act, 2012.
Students were matched with institutions based on several factors, including:
- Their KCSE examination performance.
- Their preferred course choices.
- The available capacity declared by universities and colleges.
The placement agency emphasized that the process is automated and merit-based, ensuring fairness and transparency.
Candidates who did not meet the cut-off points for their first-choice programmes were automatically considered for their second, third, and subsequent choices.
Application and Revision Process
The KUCCPS application portal opened on April 17, 2026, allowing eligible students to apply for degree, diploma, certificate, and artisan programmes.
The first application window closed on May 6, after which KUCCPS reopened the portal between May 16 and May 22 to allow applicants to revise their course selections based on available vacancies and changing cut-off points.
The revision exercise was aimed at maximizing placement opportunities and ensuring institutions filled available spaces.
What Happens Next?
Students who have been successfully placed are expected to download their admission letters once universities and colleges begin issuing them.
Institutions will also communicate reporting dates, registration requirements, tuition fee details, and orientation schedules ahead of the new academic year.
Applicants who were not placed may still have opportunities during subsequent placement or inter-institution transfer windows, depending on available vacancies.
For thousands of students, the release of the KUCCPS placement results marks the beginning of a new academic journey one that could shape their careers and future opportunities for years to come.
