Murkomen Calls for Thorough Investigations

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has instructed security agencies to launch a comprehensive investigation into the violence and disruptions reported during the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.

Speaking after reports of chaos at some polling stations, Murkomen said the government wants everyone involved in the violence identified and brought before the law.

‘No One Should Be Spared’

The CS said the Inspector General of Police had deployed sufficient security officers to maintain peace throughout the election.

However, he noted that claims of individuals causing unrest must be fully investigated to establish who was responsible and who may have sent them to the area.

“Let me assure Kenyans that the Inspector General of Police deployed enough officers to provide security in Ol Kalou. These allegations of some other persons causing havoc in Ol Kalou must be investigated thoroughly, and anyone found culpable must be arrested regardless of what they were doing and who deployed them to Ol Kalou,” Murkomen said.

He further stressed that accountability should apply equally to everyone, including any officers or individuals who may have been deployed through official channels.

“Whether they were deployed by the Inspector General, they must be dealt with and dealt with conclusively,” he added.

Government Reaffirms Stand Against Election Violence

Murkomen reiterated that the government remains committed to ensuring peaceful elections and warned that violence would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He emphasized that maintaining law and order during the electoral process remains a top priority and urged all stakeholders to uphold peace as the by-election continues.

As investigations get underway, many Kenyans will be watching closely to see whether those responsible for the violence are held accountable, regardless of their influence or connections.
