Main Story
Deadly Night Crash
Four lives were lost in a horrific accident that occurred late Thursday night along the busy Narok–Bomet Highway. The crash happened near the Ololunga/Tegero area, involving a lorry and a private car in a head-on collision.
According to police reports, the lorry was heading towards Narok when it drifted out of its lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle. The impact was so intense that four occupants died instantly at the scene.
Injuries and Emergency Response
Several other passengers who were caught up in the crash sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders rushed them to nearby health facilities within Narok County, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The bodies of those who lost their lives were taken to the Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary as authorities begin the process of identification and further investigations.
Investigations Underway
Police have since launched an inquiry to determine what exactly led to the tragic incident. Narok Police Commander Patrick Lobolia confirmed that preliminary findings point to the lorry veering off its lane.
However, investigators are also considering other possible factors, including mechanical issues and road conditions, as they work to piece together what happened.
Growing Road Safety Crisis
This latest tragedy adds to a worrying trend of fatal accidents along major highways in the region. Just days earlier, another deadly crash along the Mai Mahiu–Narok road claimed multiple lives, intensifying concerns among road users and authorities alike.
Experts have long pointed to reckless driving, poor vehicle maintenance, and challenging weather conditions as key contributors to the rising number of accidents.
Calls for Caution
Authorities are urging motorists to remain vigilant, especially during the rainy season when roads become more dangerous. Drivers are being advised to maintain their lanes, avoid speeding, and ensure their vehicles are in proper condition before hitting the road.
