Teen Killed After Night Vigil
Police in Siaya County are probing the killing of a 17-year-old boy who was attacked while leaving a night vigil in Boi village, Asembo.
The teenager was walking home with a friend when they were ambushed by unknown attackers on March 23. His body was later discovered by the roadside with a deep cut to the neck.
His friend, who also sustained serious injuries, was rushed to hospital and is currently in stable condition. Authorities say the survivor has indicated he can help identify the attackers.
Investigations Underway
The motive behind the killing remains unclear, with police launching investigations to track down those responsible. The body of the deceased has been moved to the mortuary as investigations continue.
More Cases Reported Across Counties
The Siaya incident is part of a wider pattern of violent cases reported in recent days:
- In Nakuru County, a man died in hospital after being assaulted in Rongai. Police have since opened a murder investigation.
- In Kakamega County, the body of 40-year-old welder Paolo Mukhwana was found by the roadside in Lumakanda with head injuries.
- Another body was discovered in Ndigwa, Rarieda, also in Siaya County, under unclear circumstances with no visible injuries.
- In Garissa County, police arrested a suspect linked to the fatal stabbing of Abdirahman Adow, reportedly by a friend.
- In Kakamega’s Harambee area, a man’s body was found in a sugarcane plantation with multiple injuries, including severe facial trauma.
Rising Concern Over Violence
Authorities say the motive in many of these cases is still unknown, though early indications suggest links to personal disputes such as relationships, land disagreements, and failed deals.
Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that efforts to curb the rising cases of violent crime are being intensified.
