Main Story
Kenya Power Accelerates Digital Services
Kenya Power has unveiled plans to gradually discontinue its physical payment counters located in banking halls as it continues expanding digital service delivery.
The utility company says the initiative is designed to make bill payments easier and more accessible while encouraging customers to shift towards electronic payment methods that offer quicker transaction processing.
Customers Encouraged to Use Digital Channels
As part of the transition, customers will be encouraged to pay their electricity bills through a variety of digital platforms, including M-Pesa PayBill services, mobile banking applications, internet banking, USSD banking options and authorized payment agents.
According to the company, the increasing use of digital payment systems has significantly reduced reliance on cash transactions made at physical banking counters.
Gradual Rollout to Ease Transition
Kenya Power noted that the phase-out process will be implemented gradually, giving customers enough time to adjust to the available digital alternatives without disrupting access to payment services.
The company emphasized that the transition aims to improve operational efficiency, lower service costs and align with the country’s broader push toward digital financial services.
Support Services to Remain Available
Even as physical payment counters are withdrawn, Kenya Power says customers will continue receiving assistance through its customer care centres and digital support platforms.
The company has also encouraged customers who still depend on banking hall payments to familiarize themselves with the available electronic channels to ensure a smooth transition.
