Victoria Rubadiri exits Citizen TV after 6 years

Citizen TV bids farewell to a cherished talent, journalist Victoria Rubadiri, after six remarkable years.

Linus Kaikai, Royal Media Services’ Editorial Director, confirmed Rubadiri’s departure in a heartfelt message. He hailed her talent and on-air presence, fondly remembering the “American Edition” nickname given to their Sunday Live show co-hosted with Jeff Koinange due to their exceptional presentation style.

“Sadly but proudly,” Kaikai stated, “Vicky Rubadiri proceeds to her next duty station.” Reports suggest Rubadiri will grace the screens of an international media house.

Rubadiri’s career

Rubadiri’s impressive career trajectory includes stints at NTV and Citizen TV, where she solidified her reputation as a leading media personality in Kenya. Her accomplishments include the prestigious BBC World News Komla Dumor Award in 2020. Following this recognition, she honed her skills further through a three-month training program with the BBC Academy.

Citizen TV viewers enjoyed Rubadiri’s versatility across various shows. She anchored Citizen Weekend on Saturdays and delivered impactful features, with “Wombs of Sorrow” highlighting the plight of women suffering from cervical cancer being a notable example.

News of Rubadiri’s departure circulated prior to Kaikai’s confirmation. Sources revealed she was serving her notice and expected to make her final on-air appearance over the weekend. A celebratory cake-cutting ceremony by Citizen TV staff acknowledged her significant contributions to the station.

Victoria Rubadiri, a graduate of Temple University’s Broadcast Journalism program (2009), embarks on a new chapter in her illustrious career, leaving behind a legacy of excellence at Citizen TV.
