Amani shares intriguing reason why she had to transition from secular to gospel

Renowned musician Cecillia Wambui, known by her stage name Amani, has revealed why she made the decision to switch from secular to gospel & get ‘saved’.

The musician has been lowkey for several years, despite being among the most sought-after legendary musicians who graced the Kenyan entertainment industry.

In addition, Amani has been keeping her family off social media. She reveals that her husband is not a social media fan; and this is among the things that have made their marriage successful. She made the talk in a recent interview with Lynn Ngugi, adding about her move to ‘get saved’.

“I was single for a while. I lived in my beautiful single-woman pad. I had my space but my husband is an extrovert he wants to be in your space. I realised that was him and I had to respect that. I got to appreciate the fact that yeye anataka a conversation.

Talking about her transition, Amani claims she was slowly slipping into depression, but seeking God’s guidance made her feel more comfortable, not forgetting her husband.

“Anybody who knows my husband knows that he’s my number one supporter. If there’s anybody who’d push me to do things it’s him. Even right now the person pushing me to release music is him. He understands who I am and he’s comfortable with himself,” she said.

Apart from Amani being a mother & a wife, her contributions to the Kenyan music industry can’t be forgotten. She earned several coveted accolades, including the Best Female category at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards, Pearl of Africa Music Awards, Kisima Awards, and Chaguo La Teeniez Awards.
