The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) main examinations officially began on Monday morning.

Officials from the Ministry of Education arrived at various exam collection centers early in the morning to oversee the distribution of exam materials.

Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang led the exercise at the Westlands DCC center, while Teachers Service Commission (CEO) Nancy Macharia oversaw the exam distribution at the Mvita center in Mombasa County.

903, 260 candidates are expected to sit the examinations countrywide, according to KNEC.

“We have all the necessary personnel who are supposed to man the examinations. Every person who should be at the examination center has been accredited. So, we don’t want to find anybody who isn’t accredited within compounds of the examination centres,” Mburu said

After sitting practical exams, the candidates will now attend to main subjects, an exercise that will come to an end on November 24, 2023.
