Just in: Detectives have stumbled upon details indicating that the serial killer was demanding a ransom of 500,000 ksh from Mueno’s family, who are the parents or rather family of the deceased.

According to information shared by Rita Waeni Muendo’s family, the 20-year-old left her aunt’s residence in Syokimau to meet with a friend at Roysambu. At around 5 a.m. On Sunday, her father received a message delivered from her phone number demanding a ransom of Ksh. 500,000 within 24 hours for the release of the young individual.

The motive for the murder is yet to be established, as the police are also yet to recover the woman’s head, but as it stands, there was an amount of money that had been requested from Muendo’s family.

She told a friend she was headed for dinner and would be back later, not to be seen again. Mueno’s family resorted to informing the DCI detectives after receiving the information.

According to the family, the young teenager was lured by her killer, who was also interested in getting money from her parents.

“We believe she was lured by her killer, who also tried to extort money from her family, even after killing her,” the family added.

Detectives are still looking for Ms. Muendo’s head and her personal belongings, including her clothes and mobile phone.

On Tuesday, police arrested a male foreign national at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on suspicion of being involved in the murder. He was taken to Kasarani Police Station for questioning; more details will be shared soon.
