Kiambu County Government Bans the Park and Chill Party Held By Nairobians Along Tea Farms and Streets

Today, the Kiambu County Commissioner announced that it will no longer tolerate park and chill, declaring a decisive ban on what he referred to as the unwelcome intrusion of “Nairobians” into the peaceful tea farms and streets of Kiambu.

Commonly known as Park and Chill, groups of revelers drive from Nairobi to the green tea estates of Limuru usually on Sundays.

“This is a matter of great concern to us; there is a new lifestyle trend that has cropped up in this region since the COVID-19 pandemic,” Nkanatha said.

The County Commissioner, who was speaking to the press, said that the youths take pride in succumbing to drinking heavy liquor and playing loud music in their already parked cars with doors wide open. They even a times roll out with a DJ.

He went on to add that they had dispatched officers who managed to arrest a few individuals who were arrested in Limuru, promising to use them as an example to the rest, discouraging anything to do with holding such activities, most importantly in those peaceful areas on other people’s lands, without even their consent.

“We do not want to see such kinds of activities around here, and as the Kiambu security committee, we are banning them.

We have vowed to continue with the crackdown. We have an operation order to end this hangout, habits.” Nkanatha clarified.

Nkanatha has called out all county commissioners to work together so that such practices are fully put to bed.
