For starters, the Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya is an award presented to individuals in recognition of outstanding service rendered to the country. Not only the Kenyan creatives alone, but even those who put their lives at risk to save their fellow countrymen.

Kenyan content creator Jacky Vike, who was in attendance at the Jamhuri Celebrations, was called upon by the Kenyan President and presented with a medal order of the Grand Warrior Award.

Jacky Vike, whose achievements were read out loud at the stadium, was acknowledged for always putting smiles on Kenyans, for always being relevant, and for not changing her style of doing content.

She took to her Instagram page to share the exciting news with her audience, telling them how excited and privileged she is.

“Today I was honored to receive the title of Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya from his excellency, the President. I am truly humbled and grateful. Thank you all for always supporting my content.

The new OGW is in town! Ata iko kwa Bio already.” Jacky Vike’s statement read:.

Eddie Butita, on the other hand, who happens to be not just the CEO of SPM BUZZ but also a scriptwriter and content creator who is thriving and making moves in the entertainment industry, having even translated an English series ‘Upshaws’ to Swahili that is airing on Netflix, was also part of those who were being credited for the hard work and sacrifice they have made to ensure that the entertainment industry never lacks content.

Some of the other creatives who were also acknowledged are Kenyan creatives Timothy Kimani, famously known as ‘Njugush’, and Abel Mutua, famously known for his show ‘Mkurugenzi’. Both of these two creatives started way back, have managed to accomplish the most, and are still relevant, having mastered their audience.

As part of the event, President Ruto assured Kenyan Creatives and all other content creators creating content through Facebook and Instagram that in January 2024, Meta will commit to helping creators in Kenya earn money for crafting original content.

“I have good news for our creatives and for all those who imagine and produce content through Instagram and Facebook. Just yesterday, Meta committed to helping creators in Kenya earn money for crafting original content. Following a pilot program with eligible creators in the country, Meta will be expanding monetization opportunities and allowing more creators to earn a living from doing what they love.” President Ruto promised in his speech.

With this in place, Kenyan creatives will be able to put in the work because they know they will receive not just recognition and support but also money that they can use to better themselves and help them grow.
