## Kenya Airways Suspends Flights to UAE Amidst Regional Airspace Closure
NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 28 – **Kenya Airways (KQ)** has suspended flights to **Dubai** and **Sharjah** in the **United Arab Emirates (UAE)** following the closure of UAE airspace amid escalating military operations involving the **United States** and **Israel** against **Iran**.

In a statement, the national carrier said the **temporary suspension** was necessitated by **safety concerns** after threats of counter-strikes by Iran targeting US bases in the region.
> “We wish to inform our customers that we have temporarily suspended flights to Dubai and Sharjah until further notice due to the UAE airspace closure,” KQ said.
The airline confirmed that flights **KQ310** and **KQ305**, alongside scheduled cargo services, had been cancelled.
## Escalating Regional Tensions
The suspension comes after President **Donald Trump** announced the start of US military strikes on Iran following the collapse of nuclear negotiations in Geneva.
On **February 28, 2026**, the United States and Israel launched what was described as a **joint military offensive** against Iran. In a video address, Trump confirmed the commencement of “major combat operations,” terming the campaign “massive and ongoing.”
The developments triggered **airspace closures** in parts of the Gulf region, disrupting commercial aviation routes, including those serving the UAE.

KQ apologised for the disruption and assured customers that affected passengers would be contacted directly.
> “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding. We will communicate and engage directly with affected customers and provide them with the necessary assistance,” the airline said.
It added that the situation remains fluid and updates will be issued as more information becomes available.
