Speaking in a gathering, the Deputy President addressed the 87 Elnino deaths, saying that 37 of them who drowned were instigated by Kenyans themselves who were in a hurry to go somewhere.

“Out of the 87 deaths that have occurred due to Elinino, 37 of them were caused by drowning, not floods getting into their houses, but you going to where the floods are and bearing nature. Kenyans are crossing rivers when they can see the waters are menacing and they are rough, and they still insist they are in a hurry to go somewhere and they never reach there.” Gachagua added.

He went on to urge the public to be considerate of what they do, as the consequences might just be unbearable, adding that, more importantly, they should do the right thing as much as they are appealing to the government for help.

“I want to appeal to the people of Kenya to be responsible as much as they are asking the government to intervene. How will we do that when you get into a river and you can see the way it is flowing?” Gachagua urged the public

The DP urged Kenyans to be considerate of their lives as well as those of those who depend on them by not running into a flooding river because they are in a hurry.
