Bonfire Adventures CEO Simon Kabu, who is happily married to Sarah Kabu, has shared the secret to having a successful marriage and highlighted issues that may lead to it ending up not working.

Simon urged people to be forgiving of their spouses since people make mistakes, emphasizing that forgiving is a step to the next chapter in marriage.

“Being in the public eye and working with my wife, we still stay committed to each other, and marriage takes a lot of forgiveness. People are bound to make mistakes, and you can also make a mistake, and you will require your partner to forgive you.

He advised people in the public eye to not air their challenges online and solve their problems privately, since if they do, they open the door for other people’s opinions on their marriages.

“Solving issues privately is the best solution since it motivates the upcoming young couple who look up to them and their union.

He talked about setting boundaries, taking time to know your partner about things they might like or might not like, and being aware of their triggers.

He offered a solution that has since worked on their marriage, which is ‘The Okoandoa program’. This is a program offered by Bonfire Adventures where couples who feel they are not on good terms should consider going, doing activities together, and having quality time to talk and solve their issues.

Simon emphasizes that communication is the key to a successful marriage since, when you communicate, you open other doors such as trust and respect.

He ended by saying that people should stay committed and strive to make their marriages work, and divorce is not a solution.

“I have been married to my wife for 14 years, and people expect it to be all roses, but there are ups and downs, and I can say I married my best friend. I do not regret getting married. Marriage is sweet. It may have ups and downs, but once you stay committed to it and eliminate all the barriers together, you will most definitely enjoy it.”
