ODM Supporter Nuru Okanga in Police Custody For Insulting President Ruto

ODM supporter Nuru Maloba Okanga (32) is in police custody for insulting Kenyan President Ruto.

In a video clip shared online, Nuru Okanga was seen addressing a gathering, saying that the president is a liar and isn’t real with his words.

“Yaani Ruto anasema Wakati wa Uhuru hakukua na mafuta. Ruto, you are very stupid! You are an idiot.” Nuru Okanga said

(Ruto says that back in times when President Uhuru Kenyatta was in power, there was no fuel. Ruto, you are an idiot and very stupid!).

Nuru Okanga, who was trying to understand Ruto’s statements about the high cost of fuel in the country, said that Ruto’s statements don’t add up and he should stop deceiving the nation.

Moments later, Nuru Okanga was apprehended, taken into police custody, and taken to Milimani Courts.

Okanga, who went viral not just for being an ODM supporter but also by sitting for his KCPE examinations days ago and achieving 401 marks, was charged with publishing false information on his YouTube channel, Riba News, on November 20, 2023.

City lawyer Emmanuel Kibet, who represented the aspiring politician, told the court that Okanga was married with three children and therefore not a flight risk.

He has been granted cash bail of Sh10,000 and was held in the court cells while relatives organized to pay the sum.

The case was listed for mention on December 13, 2023, for a pre-trial investigation.
