Police Respond to Distress Call

Police in Kibra are investigating the death of a nine-year-old girl following an alleged assault at her home on September 6.

Officers from Kibra Police Station, accompanied by members of the community policing team, responded after receiving information that the child had been seriously injured.

By the time police arrived at the reported scene, the girl’s father had already taken her to Mbagathi Hospital, reportedly seeking urgent medical assistance.

Girl Dies at Hospital

The situation took a tragic turn when medical personnel informed the officers that the child had arrived at the facility without signs of life.

An initial examination reportedly showed several bruises and areas of swelling on the girl’s body. Investigators also noted that she had recently lost an upper front tooth.

Further examination raised concerns that the child had also been sexually assaulted.

Her body was subsequently transferred to Nairobi Funeral Home, where it remains as detectives await a postmortem examination.

Father Remains in Custody

The girl’s 47-year-old father was arrested and remains in police custody as detectives gather evidence and piece together the events leading to the child’s death.

The findings of the postmortem are expected to help investigators establish the precise cause of death and provide additional evidence for the ongoing case.

Authorities have indicated that the suspect will be presented in court once investigations are sufficiently advanced.

DCI Condemns Violence Against Children

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has expressed condolences to the girl’s family while warning against violence and abuse targeting children.

The agency stressed that children are entitled to protection and that acts of violence against them constitute serious criminal offences.

Detectives are continuing with investigations, with the DCI saying anyone found responsible will face appropriate legal action.

Every child deserves safety and protection, and when that trust is violated, justice must follow.
