Popular Kenyan content creator Kabi Wa Jesus recently shared a powerful story while speaking with Oga Obinna. He revealed his past struggles with bhang (cannabis) addiction, hoping to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse, especially for young people.

Kabi admitted starting to smoke bhang in fifth grade, heavily influenced by his desire to fit in with friends growing up in a challenging environment. He described this initial choice as a gateway to something darker – involvement with a gang.

Speaking on Youtube with Obinna TV, Wa Jesus revealed that he was introduced to drugs by close family members, adding that he used to sneak out of class to use ‘chang’aa’

A Disturbing Revelation and Divine Intervention

Kabi further disclosed a particularly disturbing detail. The gang reportedly required circumcision as part of initiation, a life-altering procedure he would have faced in sixth grade. Thankfully, this plan never came to fruition, and Kabi expressed his belief in divine intervention.

The Devastating Impact of Drugs

Kabi emphasized the dangers of downplaying drug use. He argued that even seemingly harmless substances like weed can lead young people down a path of addiction, crime, and a wasted life. He urged adults to be mindful of the influence they have on impressionable youth.

A Turning Point-Illness and Faith

Kabi’s journey shifted dramatically when he received a tuberculosis diagnosis. Quitting smoking, including weed, became a medical necessity. While he initially managed to stay sober for a few months, he eventually relapsed.

However, a significant change occurred on September 15, 2013. Kabi found salvation through Christianity. Remarkably, his addiction to weed disappeared upon accepting Jesus as his savior. He also actively confronted his past demons, leaving them behind.

Kabi’s story offers a powerful message of hope and redemption. It highlights the destructive potential of substance abuse and the transformative power of faith and self-improvement.
