Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz speaks on why it took him so long to return to the country.

WCB Boss Diamond Platnumz

According to the WCB boss, some of the East African countries don’t pay their own African artists well the way they pay those who come from abroad; hence, he considered changing his rate card because he could no longer work with peanuts.

“Kusema ukweli nilibadilisha rate price yangu the way I used to charge back in the days kwa sababu niligundua kwamba afrika mashariki wakija wasanii wa nje ya nchi kama kutoka Amerika wakija wasanii kutoka nje ya east afrika wanalipa fedha mingi alafu tukija east afrika hatulipwi malipo mazuri.

Kwa hiyo nikasema so lazima nilipwi malipo ambayo nastahili na kama si hivo siji.” Diamond said.

He went on to share his disappointment with the East African promoters, who look down on their own and practice partiality, hinting that whatever he did was the best for his brand and him as well. He feels like he deserves recognition for the many things that he has done.

He congratulated the Tusker festival promoters for respecting his decision and giving him what he deserves.

Apparently, that’s the reason why Diamond has been avoiding coming to Kenya because of the above reasons he has shared.

He urged all the promoters to respect the artists work, as they work so hard to produce tracks, and the least they’d expect from them is to practice partiality and unfairness.
