Tinina was completing a major report prior to her sad demise, demonstrating her unparalleled dedication to storytelling.

On Sunday, March 17, Rita died at her Kileleshwa home.

Tinina’s housekeeper went to Tinina’s room to get her ready for breakfast, but found her unconscious in bed. Her coworkers at NTV got extremely worried since she had not arrived for work as scheduled, so they launched a desperate quest to find her.

Sadly, Joe Ageyo, the editor in chief of NTV, later told his colleagues that she had passed away.

During this period of grieving while they process the sad event, the family had asked for privacy.

“On behalf of the family, this has come as a shock to us and we are really trying to digest and at the moment we request for the privacy that is accorded to the family. More information will come later,” said a family member.

Colleagues came to mourn their departed journalist as the body was taken to Umash Funeral Home under police guard.
