Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has joined Martha Karua and her family in mourning the death of her father, Mwalimu Jackson Karua.

Kalonzo visited Karua at her home on Monday, where he shared a moment of remembrance with the family and conveyed his condolences.

The Wiper leader described the late Mwalimu Jackson as a teacher and family patriarch whose influence extended beyond his immediate family.

He said the values and lessons the late teacher passed on continued to live through the people he raised and influenced.

Kalonzo also offered prayers and words of comfort to Karua and her relatives during the difficult period.

Karua recalls final moments with her father

Karua revealed that her father died on Sunday after she and her siblings had visited him at his home in Kirinyaga earlier that day.

During the visit, the family sang one of his favourite gospel hymns together.

At the time, they did not know it would be their final song with him.

Karua said she received news of his death while travelling back to Nairobi.

Despite the grief, she expressed gratitude for having had an opportunity to sit with her father and spend time with him shortly before his passing.

A father who shaped Karua’s life

Reflecting on her loss, Karua said saying goodbye to someone who has been present throughout one’s life is never easy, regardless of age.

She remembered her father as a constant source of support, from her education and early years through her legal career and public service.

Beyond being her father, Karua described him as a teacher who placed a strong emphasis on education, character and integrity.

She said his influence was reflected in the values he passed down to his children.
