Woman Found Dead in Apartment
A 21-year-old woman has been found dead inside her apartment in Umoja Two Estate, Nairobi, prompting detectives to launch a murder investigation.
The victim, identified as Fransisca Wanja Thuranira, was discovered by a neighbour after her aunt became concerned when she could not reach her by phone.
Buruburu DCIO Simon Kirui confirmed the incident and said a specialised team had been deployed to track down the man considered the prime suspect in the case.
Aunt Raises Alarm
Preliminary investigations indicate that Wanja’s aunt, Agrippina Meme, had left her at the second-floor apartment before going to work.
Concern grew around midday when several calls to the young woman went unanswered.
Meme reportedly asked a neighbour to check on the apartment. When the neighbour arrived, the front door was reportedly unlocked.
Inside, Wanja was found unresponsive on the lower section of a double-decker bed.
Detectives Begin Investigations
Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations based at Buruburu were called to the scene, where they processed and documented the area as part of the homicide investigation.
A preliminary examination indicated that Wanja had sustained multiple stab wounds to the chest.
Investigators are pursuing several lines of inquiry as they work to establish what happened before her death.
