Four Die at the Scene
The fatal crash occurred at around 11pm on Sunday, September 13, 2026, as an Easy Coach bus travelling from Gilgil towards Nakuru collided with a private vehicle.
Four people inside the private car, including two women and two juveniles, died at the scene.
The driver of the private vehicle was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to Gilgil Hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries, raising the confirmed death toll to five.
Other people involved in the accident sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police Give Preliminary Account
Police said the Easy Coach bus was heading towards Nakuru while the private vehicle was travelling uphill in the direction of Nairobi.
According to Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander Wilton Mokio, preliminary investigations indicate that the bus moved into the path of the oncoming vehicle, resulting in the head-on collision.
One person was reportedly left seriously injured following the crash.
Police have since commenced investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
