L’Oréal Kenya has marked a significant milestone in the country’s beauty industry by appointing media personality and digital creator Azziad Nasenya as the first Kenyan ever to become the face of a Garnier product in East Africa. The historic announcement was made during the official launch of the new Garnier Even & Bright Serum Cleanser, an innovative skincare product designed to cleanse and brighten the skin simultaneously.
Azziad’s appointment represents a major step forward for local representation in global beauty campaigns. For the first time, a Kenyan has been selected to front a Garnier product, highlighting the growing recognition of African consumers and influencers within international beauty brands.
Speaking during the launch, Azziad described the appointment as a moment of pride not only for herself but also for young Kenyan women aspiring to see themselves represented on global platforms.
“When I was told I would be the first Kenyan face of Garnier, I was elated. Not because of what it means for me, but because of what it means for every young Kenyan girl who has ever looked at a global beauty campaign and not seen herself in it. She’s there now,” she said.
The launch also introduced the Garnier Even & Bright Serum Cleanser to the Kenyan market. Unlike traditional face washes and bar soaps, the product combines cleansing and brightening benefits in a single formula. According to Garnier, the cleanser contains the equivalent of one bottle of serum in a wash and features a gentle pH-balanced formula designed specifically for facial skin.
Azziad noted that the scientific innovation behind the product was one of the reasons she was excited to be associated with the brand.
“When L’Oréal walked me through the science behind this product, I was genuinely amazed. The idea that my daily cleanser is actively brightening my skin at the same time? That is the kind of innovation that changes everything,” she said.
The launch campaign, themed “Dust ni Constant. Glow ni Choice.”, reflects the everyday realities faced by many Nairobi residents, including exposure to dust, pollution, and intense sunlight. The campaign encourages consumers to upgrade from ordinary bar soaps to skincare products specifically formulated for facial care.
To celebrate the launch, L’Oréal Kenya hosted a high-energy foam party at Emara Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi. The event provided an immersive experience that showcased the product’s signature foaming technology while creating a memorable and shareable brand activation.
Marie Van Haesendonck, Managing Director of L’Oréal East Africa, described the launch as a defining moment for both the company and Kenyan consumers.
“This launch signifies two powerful moments: a historic Kenyan first and a product whose science is genuinely world-class at a pocket-friendly price. The Garnier Even & Bright Serum Cleanser is proof that L’Oréal is committed to delivering real innovation for Kenyan skin,” she said.
The announcement reinforces L’Oréal Kenya’s commitment to ensuring global beauty standards reflect the diversity, aspirations, and realities of African consumers while making innovative skincare solutions more accessible across the region.
With Azziad Nasenya leading the campaign, Garnier hopes to inspire confidence among young consumers and demonstrate that world-class beauty brands can successfully embrace local talent and local stories.
