A series of drone strikes on two warehouses linked to Russia’s largest online retailer, Wildberries, has left at least eight people dead and dozens injured, according to Russian officials. Deadly Strikes Hit Wildberries Warehouses in Russia

Two warehouses belonging to Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries were hit in drone attacks, causing deaths, injuries and widespread damage, Russian officials said.

Authorities reported that one strike in Tambov, located about 475 kilometres southeast of Moscow, killed seven people and injured 25 others.

Another attack on a warehouse in Elektrostal in the Moscow region reportedly killed one person and left 37 others injured.

Videos shared online showed large flames spreading through a warehouse facility, with thick smoke rising into the sky as workers rushed away from the area.

Ukraine Claims Facilities Had Military Links

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the strikes targeted major logistics centres that were allegedly being used to transport restricted components connected to drone manufacturing and navigation technology.

Zelensky also said Ukraine carried out other operations targeting areas around the Sea of Azov, the Black Sea and Russian-controlled Crimea.

According to the Ukrainian leader, the attacks were carried out in response to Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure.

Russia Reports Damage and Casualties

Russian authorities described the attacks as a major incident, with emergency teams responding to fires and searching through damaged sections of the warehouses.

Footage from the scenes appeared to show sections of the buildings destroyed by explosions, while injured workers were seen trying to escape.

The cause and full extent of the damage remain under investigation.

Wildberries is one of Russia’s biggest online shopping platforms and is often compared to Amazon because of its large marketplace and delivery network.
