The ‘Mmmh Baba’ Hit Maker Kris Erroh Speaks On Why Kenyan Creatives are Lagging Behind

Kenyan gospel artist Kris Erroh, commonly known for his hit song ‘Mmmh Baba’, has disclosed the reason why Kenyan creatives are not growing as other international artists are.

Speaking in an indoor interview with one of our hosts, Nthenya, he said that Kenyan creatives are not growing or are rather not making progress because of how Kenyan corporations and other event organizers and promoters don’t value their own more because they feel like they are not a big deal.

He added that artists from other countries are adored and worshipped by being paid huge figures per minute, whereas when it comes to local ones, it is always peanuts, even after a long argument of trying to come to an agreement.

“Kenyans pay like crazy, but they don’t pay their own people. It is actually more like a culture, and it will take a whole community to change the narrative.” Kris added.

Speaking of why he has been silent in the long run, he values peace above everything, hence the reason he has always remained out of the spotlight.

Kris Erroh urged the upcoming artists to consider working hard because the music business is not for the weak. One needs to be resolute, persistent, and not afraid of hard work if they want to succeed in it.

Mentioning examples of people who are thriving and putting in the work, asking upcoming artists to emulate them.

He said he would gladly work with those who have put in the work and not just those looking for short-term relevancy to make their star shine.

In closing, he announced that, for the first time in his career, he would be hosting a Kris Gig event in Nairobi and guaranteed it would be unique and one of a kind. Giving an overview of the event, he clarified that it will be a celebration of all the accomplishments he has been able to do. He will also perform selections from his discography, which has won 13 accolades since the beginning of his career.
