Shorn Arwa Speaks On Why It is Important For Ladies To Be Independent

Kenyan content creator Shorn Arwa has shared the importance of women being independent.

Speaking in an interview with Mungai Eve, she said that there’s value when women have their own money, even if they are in relationships or marriages where the man provides for everything that’s needed.

“Let me tell you… Kua na pesa yako hata ukikanyaga nyanya unaeza lipa.”

As per her, it is important for ladies to have their own money as well so that they can save themselves from small embarrassments that might come their way as well as be in a position to support their siblings and families as well. Adding to that, it is out of the question when a lady asks for money from her husband to buy small house shopping goods like Matchboxes and so on.

Shorn Arwa, who’s engaged to a Nigerian and Mother of one, said that as far as there’s the aspect of asking money from her husband, she does it out of fun just to remind him that he is the breadwinner, but in most cases, there are things that she herself handles as well.

“I am just like Wacha Nimsumbue Nidio Asijisahau as a man… So he doesn’t feel like I am ruining the male energy in the family. I am the one doing this and that. Otherwise, I have my own money. I can buy what I want. I can buy whatever I want. I can sponsor my family members.”

Shorn Arwa feels the need for women to hustle and get their own money because it is then that it even becomes easier to share roles and build up a family easily without outweighing the other.
