Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has finally responded on why he slapped the unknown MCA at a funeral.

Speaking in a video he shared online, he said that Baraza is the reason behind all of it, saying that he has always been attacked and confronted by bandits hired by him, hence why he opted to slap the unidentified MCA who was approaching him while he was public speaking.

“Mimi juzi napata. Ananiongelesha vibaya na nimekaa tuh. Lakini nilishangaa akiniita akiniambia nisiongelee baraza. Aligonga mpaka gari yangu mawe.

Sasa alianza kunithreaten kuniprovoke na wakenya mnanitusi uliza shida ni wapy. I am a very peaceful man. Mimi huongea kama macho nimefunga.” Pater Salasya shared.

According to Salasya, the public shouldn’t rush to draw conclusions on matters before investigating and knowing the root of them all. He went on to say that he is a very peaceful person, as he always doesn’t respond to matters quickly, and he is always a peaceful person unless provoked. As per what happened the other day at a funeral, he ended up slapping an MP because the MCA was armed and prepared to attack him, hence the reason he resorted to acting fast and quick with his arms because he never wanted to be taken down.

“Sasa ni kama huyu Mca pia yeye alikua amejihami na kisu yake. Sasa mimi alinipata nikiwa offguard. Sasa ningefanya aje. Sesiongei wale watu wananitusi kwa mitandao hakuna kitu mnaeza kunifanya niko hapa,” Peter Salasya clarified.

Salasya concluded by telling the public that what he did was out of self-defense, as his life was in danger since he was caught unaware.

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya was arrested on Friday over allegations of assaulting a local politician during a funeral held in Kakamega County.

Salasya faces charges of assault, causing physical harm, and creating a disturbance in a way that could lead to a breach of peace. He has been released on Ksh.50,000 bail following his apprehension.

The MP is set to be arraigned in court on Tuesday, January 16.

Through a video shared online, the incident captures Salasya, dressed stylishly in a light gray suit, addressing mourners gathered at the event. Salsaya’s attention shifts to an individual outside the camera’s field of view whom the legislator repeatedly implores to sit down so that he can continue with his address.

Despite Salasya’s instructions, the man, whom sources indicate was an area MCA seeking to address the gathering, fails to comply, which then makes Salasya slap him in the instant.
