Why President Ruto’s 10 million watch has raised mixed reactions from the public
This has indeed angered citizens because the President wears a high end expensive wrist watch whereas doctors and nurses are receiving low wages.
Speaking in a gathering, Babu Owino asked President Ruto to pay doctors, or else they keep protesting.
The President however responded to the doctors plea for an increase in wages, telling them that they should understand the country does not have the resources to increase wages for its workers and they should live within their means as inflation is taking place everywhere.
“We must tell ourselves the truth: the time has come for us to live within our means. We cannot continue to spend the money we don’t have. We must be honest with ourselves, and the truth is that we must live within our means. We cannot borrow money to pay salaries.” President Ruto addressed the matter.
Babu Owino however responded to President Ruto’s claims offering a solution to the situation he claims which is to sell his 10 million Ksh wristwatch and use the money to pay doctors.
“Jana niliskia Ruto akiongea ya kwamba hana pesa ya kulipa madaktari tunaambia madaktari kesho muendelee na maandamano kwa sababu huwezi kutuambia huna pesa na saa yenye unavaa ni ya milioni kumi. Uza hiyo saa lipa hao madaktari.” Babu Owino shared.
He goes on, quoting from the Bible that the father should give what the sons ask from him, relating it to doctors that are now on the streets, urging him to listen to their plea as they play a great role in the society at large.
