Aircraft Crashes Shortly After Takeoff
The fatal incident occurred on Tuesday in the mountainous area near Leukerbad, in southern Switzerland.
Authorities said the Cirrus SR22T had departed from Sion Airport in the Rhône Valley before crashing into a mountain slope roughly 10 minutes into the flight.
The circumstances that led to the crash remain unclear, with investigators yet to establish what happened before the aircraft struck the mountainside.
Emergency Teams Respond
Witnesses in the area reported seeing smoke and a fire following the crash.
Emergency personnel were quickly deployed to the remote location, with teams from the Valais Rescue Organisation, police and firefighters involved in the operation.
Three helicopters were also sent to the scene as authorities worked to respond to the incident and secure the crash site.
