Man Dies After Fall in Umoja II
A man believed to be around 50 years old has died after falling from the staircase of a four-storey residential building in Umoja II, Nairobi.
The incident happened on Tuesday night, September 8, after residents reportedly heard screams coming from the building.
The deceased, identified as Kariuki, lived on the fourth floor and earned a living through a jua kali business in the Umoja II area.
A neighbour who lives on the third floor reportedly went outside after hearing the disturbance and found Kariuki lying on the ground.
Residents suspected that he may have lost his footing on the staircase before falling.
He was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Police officers who responded to the scene found his clothes covered in blood and observed several injuries believed to have been sustained during the fall.
Crime Scene Investigation officers from Buruburu processed the scene before the body was transferred to the hospital mortuary.
Police said they had not found a note or any immediate evidence pointing to foul play.
The body remains at the mortuary as investigators await a postmortem examination and family identification.
Man Dies After Suspected Poisoned-Arrow Injury
In a separate incident in Kerio Valley, a 42-year-old man died after suffering a serious injury reportedly caused by a poisoned arrow.
The deceased, identified as Mica Kisang from Sagat village, was found unconscious near the Kerio River on Tuesday evening.
A boda boda rider who came across him took him to Mogil Health Centre for treatment before leaving the facility without providing his details.
Kisang had suffered a severe injury to his right hip.
Despite receiving medical attention, he died while being treated at the health facility.
Police later visited the area and processed the scene as detectives began investigating how Kisang sustained the injury and the events that preceded his death.
His body was transferred to Tunyo Mortuary, where it remains pending a postmortem examination.
Kwale Man Found Dead Near His Home
Meanwhile, detectives in Kwale County are investigating the death of a 46-year-old man whose body was found along a road in Lwara “A” village, Shimba Hills Sub-County.
The deceased, identified as Chitumbua Mwakupha, was discovered on Tuesday morning along the road linking Mbegani and Derll areas.
Police said the body was found approximately 70 metres from his home.
Investigators who examined the scene reportedly observed blood coming from his ears and mouth, prompting authorities to treat the death as a suspected murder.
Crime Scene Investigation officers documented and processed the area before the body was taken to Kwale County Hospital mortuary.
The remains are being preserved pending a postmortem examination, which is expected to provide more information about the cause of death.
Detectives are also working to establish what happened to Mwakupha and identify anyone who may have been involved.
