Elderly Woman Found Dead in Magarini
Police in Kilifi County are investigating the suspected murder of an elderly woman whose body was discovered in Magarini Sub-County after she failed to return home from her farm.
The deceased, identified as Sidi Kalu Mwango, was found in Migumoni B Village, Bate Sub-location, on Tuesday evening, October 13, 2026. Her body was located about 700 metres from her homestead.
According to police, Mwango had left home in the morning to work on her farm, which was approximately one kilometre away. She reportedly returned home for lunch before heading back to the farm at around 3pm.
When she did not return later in the evening, her family became concerned and began searching the surrounding area.
Their search ended in tragedy when they found her lifeless body and alerted officers at Marafa Police Station at approximately 8:30pm.
Body Taken to Malindi Mortuary
Officers who visited the scene observed several deep cuts on Mwango’s head and neck, according to the police account.
No weapon suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered at the location. Investigators have also not established the motive behind the killing.
Her body was transferred to the Malindi Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
