Student Arrested Following Fatal Attack
Police have taken into custody a 17-year-old Grade 9 student accused of killing his fellow student following an alleged disagreement at Akonjo Junior Secondary School in Uriri Sub-county, Migori County.
The suspect is currently being held at Uriri Police Station as detectives prepare to present him in court to face a murder charge.
Dispute Allegedly Began at School
According to Kamgundho Location Chief Samuel Onjiko, preliminary investigations indicate that the two classmates had reportedly argued earlier in the day over learning materials.
The disagreement is said to have stemmed from accusations that the deceased had interfered with the suspect’s locker while at school.
Investigators believe the suspect later left school after the lunch break and allegedly planned the attack before confronting the victim as he walked home that evening.
Victim Succumbed to Injuries
Authorities say the victim sustained serious injuries during the alleged attack and was rushed to Migori Level Four Hospital for emergency treatment.
Despite efforts by medical personnel, the student later died while receiving treatment.
His body has since been moved to the hospital’s mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
