Kenyan Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged the public to bear with them as they are doing everything within their means to reduce the high cost of living and pay off the debts left behind.

Speaking at a gathering yesterday in Mombasa, he blamed the Jubilee government for leaving behind a huge debt that is now affecting Kenya’s lifestyle and the current economy.

“The Jubilee government incurred needless debt and engaged in wasteful expenditure and corruption. We found a huge public debt of KSh 9.6 trillion and KSh 900 billion pending debts, besides KSh 2 billion in Eurobonds.

The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua defended the Kenya Kwanza Government, asking the public to bear with them as they adopted a government with many debts that cannot be cleared within a year, and the best they can do in such a scenario is by making use of every coin they get and tightening the revenue collection.

“We found ourselves in a hole. If you are intelligent, when you find yourself in a hole, you stop digging, and we are doing so by tightening revenue collection, sealing leakages, and making sure every cent is collected to pay debt.” Gachagua added.

He asked the public to consider offering a solution to the problem rather than shouting, complaining, and criticizing the Kenyan government, which is working tirelessly to ensure that they mitigate the current slapping-hard situation the country’s in.

Posing a Question to the Public: They would be lying if they promised residents that they would be able to turn it around next year because of how huge it is.

“How do you expect a government to fix a ten-year mess in one year? We found a mess of 10 years through state capture, conflict of interest, outright theft of public resources, irresponsible borrowing, and misuse of public funds into useless legacy projects.” DP Added

He blames former President Uhuru Kenyatta for sinking the country with debt and putting the country in a situation that is hanging on a thread.
