In a statement released on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, by the Office of the Government Spokesperson, Isaac Mwaura promised Kenyans awaiting new identification cards, that starting next month, the process for acquiring a new national ID will take only 10 days, unlike before.

Isaac Mwaura’s promise to Bradley Mtall
The Gen Z Goliath Bradley Mtall who has been making headlines lately didn’t actually have a birth certificate nor National ID Card thanks to the courtesy visit he paid Govt Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura he will now be able to obtain the essential government documents.
The Govt Spokesperson confirmed the same via their social media page:
“This afternoon, Bradley Marongo, popularly known as Gen Z Goliath or simply ‘Bradley Mtall’, paid a courtesy visit to the office of Government Spokesperson, Dr. Isaac Mwaura. During the visit, it came to light that Bradley hadn’t acquired any essential government documents, including his birth certificate and national identification card,” the statement read in part.
Dr. Mwaura, promised to step in to assist, and has taken the initiative to help Bradley obtain the important documents.
Why there were delays in issuing National ID Cards
A while back, Huduma Kenya had disclosed that it is the High Court’s order that had blocked the production of new digital National Identification cards.
The explanation came after a number of Kenyans took to social media to complain about the same, claiming that they had applied for document but waited for months to receive it.
Parents and students who were enrolling in various higher learning institutions expressed concerns over inordinate delays adversely affecting their right to apply for critical public services, travel documents, financing, and other opportunities. But thanks to the Govt Spokesperson that has been handled and Kenyans will now no longer need to wait longer than expected.

How to apply for a National Identification Card
- Visit the nearest Huduma Center with the required documents.
- Fill out a hardcopy application form.
- Submit your application along with payment of any applicable fees.
After submitting your application, you will receive an acknowledgement slip containing details about your application and tracking number to follow up on its progress online or through mobile SMS service. Once your application is processed, you will be issued a National Identity Card which you can use for various purposes in Kenya.
