Kenyan Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has defended Cabinet Secretary in Charge of Transport Kipchumba Murkomen over the recent blackout at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Speaking at a gathering at the Kimalel Goat Auction and Cultural Festival in Baringo County, DP said that the public should stop attacking the Cs because he is always doing his best to see that everything is stable and under control. He defended him from the public allegations that the Cs should resign because he had. AFAE generator that didn’t work when there was a blackout at the JKIA.

Gacahgua said that Kipchumba has nothing to do with the recent blackout, as he is not the one who bought the already failing generator, blaming it on the former government that squandered money and went for a fake generator that was unable to light the whole airport.

“Cs. Kipchumba is actually trying, and the public should stop throwing stones at him because the generator failed to work in the JKIA. Was Kipchumba the one who bought the generator? It was actually bought by the former government, and it happens that it was fake because each time it is loaded, it fails.

You should stop blaming Kipchumba because he is innocent and he is trying.” Gachagua explained.

The DP goes on to explain that they got a lot of mess and unplanned stacked things from the former government, and they are trying to make things right by ensuring the debt the country owes is paid off.

The outages occurred on August 25 and November 11, with the latter lasting over 12 hours before power was fully restored across the country.

Murkomen, like Gachagua, has also blamed the former government for the current woes facing the international airport.

Gachagua, however, assured Kenyans that they were working tirelessly to reduce the high cost of living.

“I sit with Kenyan President William Ruto in office, and I can assure you that he wakes up earlier to ensure that the country stabilizes and everything is under control. All we ask from you is a little patience, and things will be okay.” Gachagua said.
