US ambassador nominee Henry Wooster has outlined an ambitious vision for strengthening relations between Washington and Nairobi, describing Kenya as a key partner in Africa.
Speaking before the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Wooster pointed to Kenya’s position in East Africa, expanding economy and influence on regional security as reasons for its importance to the United States.

Security will not be the only priority.
Wooster also sees Kenya as an important economic gateway into East Africa, with the country’s technology industry, entrepreneurial culture and youthful population offering opportunities for American businesses.
If confirmed, he said he would seek to expand commercial relations between the two countries while encouraging investment that benefits both sides.
