Students from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) took to the streets on Friday 12 to demand justice for their classmate, Denzel Omondi, whose body was found in a quarry last week.
Omondi, a 23-year-old third-year student, disappeared on June 27th, shortly after participating in anti-government protests. His body was discovered on July 6th in a quarry in the Mashinani area.
While an autopsy concluded that Omondi drowned, his family and human rights activists have raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death. They point to bruises on his body that suggest foul play.

Denzel’s father, James Otieno, said his son was in good spirits hours before he vanished.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is investigating the case alongside other complaints related to unlawful arrests and disappearances during the recent protests.
As the investigation continues, the JKUAT community and the wider public await answers about the tragic death of Denzel Omondi.
