Sakaja engages in deep prayer for Nairobi residents over ongoing floods

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja is on the streets of Nairobi, taking a look at how the floods have strongly affected netizens in the city.

About 2 days ago, Sakaja was roped into the conversation of whether netizens are safe from the floods. He maintained that they’re looking to curb the floods.

“We have control over the situation. Normally when we have a disaster like this, it’s a whole-of-nation approach.”

He further added that government has 10 camps for displaced persons and people are resettling.

The county government has come up with strategic plans to ensure Nairobi is not caught unprepared by heavy rains.

Sakaja’s Prayer

The governor has now engaged in deep prayer with residents of Eastland; where he prayed for the families affected; adding that God should also help leaders to lead well.

”Tunakushukuru kwa mvua. Tunakushukuru kwa maisha. Tunakushukuru kwa sababu unatupenda. Watu wetu wanaumia. Kuna wale ambao mafuriko imewaathiri vibaya,” he prayed.

Apart from that, Sakaja pointed out that living in water paths is the main reason people have been rendered homeless by the heavy rains, as rivers have been breaking their banks.

“We have agreed on this issue, that where people have been forced to leave because rivers took the paths, we will not allow them to resettle there,” he said.

The President has now given a speech regarding the floods. He maintained that drainage systems will be added to try and mitigate the flooding. He further stated that most citizens living along the red zones have been requested to move.
