Kenyan artist Willy Paul has clarified the smoking incident that he pulled off on stage at the Boom Fest festival.
Willy Paul said that he decided to pull off the smoke stunt, saying it was not him smoking; it was just to steal the show and make people talk about it, making him stand out as one of the unique artists who was on stage.
He dismissed any allegations that he was abusing drugs, saying he was just doing it to steal the show. He did so by describing that it was just a rolled piece of paper that they had planned with his crew to halt performance and pull it off.
“Hapana sijawahi Kunywa pombe sijawahi kuvuta bangi..hiyo kitu tulifanya ilikua tuh ya kuchanganya show.” Willy Paul explained.
The video shared online saw Willy Paul performing alongside his dancers when he halted his performance, and they all pulled out a piece of rolled paper that many thought was a cigarette and lit it up. He has, however, clarified it, saying it was nothing serious.
Willy Paul clarified that he has never been involved in abusing or using any kind of drug, as he is religious and doesn’t do drugs.
