Kenyans on Twitter have called out award-winning champion Eliud Kipchoge for waiting until the demise of Kiptum in order to give his flowers to him.
Eliud, who celebrated the athlete’s achievements yesterday on his Twitter account, said the athlete’s death is a major shock to many and he is deeply saddened that it happened as well, sharing his deepest condolences to friends and family at large.
The public never took the matter lightly, for they felt like Eliud was waiting for this moment so that he could recognize him, blaming him for keeping quiet the whole time.
Below are some of the reactions from (X):
Woung Ching: You never congratulated him when he broke your record. Now you are celebrating his death. Wivu mbaya sana.
Albert: I don’t understand why people don’t give you flowers while you can still smell them.
The only Joe: You didn’t congratulate Kelvin Kiptum when he broke the marathon record, but now you have the audacity to send a condolence message?
LandLord: You never congratulated him when he broke your marathon record. Alafu sai, you have the guts to type “Rest in peace, Kelvin ❤️”
You will never see heaven. Kipchoge
Your condolences are fake. I am here to tell you for free.
He was, however, backed up by others who congratulated him, telling those hating to drop it as they are bitter because Kipchoge has a successful career way ahead of them.
