Chief Government Pathologist Dr.Johanssen Odour has shared new details regarding the young 20-year-old Rita Waeni, who was brutally murdered and her body parts dismembered at an Airbnb in Roysambu Trm Drive.

The government pathologist, who provided new details after examining the 20-year-old body, said that in his entire life as a forensicist, he has never come across what he just did today.

“This is the first time I have come across such an incident. I have never come across such in my forensic life,” the government pathologist said.

He goes on to say that the serial killer was very cautious and professional with the way he was treating the body, thus dismembering the body parts.

The reason the pathologist insists that the serial killer knew what he was doing was the fact that he had also tried extracting fingernails from the 20-year-old, all in an attempt to try and eliminate any traces of DNA that may have been left behind, apparently during the struggle.

“Another thing that we noticed is that the killer tried to clip off her fingernails for reasons that I may not be able to know, and as a scientist,.

When we see this, we think that the person was trying to hide evidence so that we are unable to get his DNA from his victim.” The government pathologist shared this while addressing journalists.

Despite the killer’s effort to extract finger nails from the 20-year-old, the forensics team was able to find a few samples from Waeni, which have been taken in for further sampling and a more detailed investigation, all in the hope of retrieving the killer’s DNA.

“We have taken samples for further analysis so that the police can continue with investigations. We might get remnants of the perpetrator’s DNA.” Odour explained

According to Chief Forensics Johanssen, there was also a desecration of the body whereby someone cut the femur clean off so that the legs were apart from the trunk.

The femur is the bone of the thigh or upper hind limb. The thigh is the region of the lower limb between the hip and the knee.
