Two Suspects Arrested Over Nairobi Trader’s Death

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested two men in connection with the fatal stabbing of a shoe trader along Landhies Road in Nairobi.

The suspects, identified as Joseph Kimani Ndungu, alias Bajong, and Peter Kimani Githinji, alias Denoo, were reportedly traced to Kayole following inquiries into the killing of Paul Mwangangi.

According to the DCI, the arrests followed investigations aimed at establishing the circumstances surrounding the trader’s death and identifying those allegedly responsible.

The agency has since confirmed that the two suspects have appeared in court as detectives continue pursuing the case.

Body Discovered Near Muthurwa Market

Mwangangi’s body was found on October 12, 2026, opposite the footbridge near Muthurwa Market.

Detectives who arrived at the scene found the trader lying face down with an apparent stab wound to the chest.

Officers from the Crime Scene Investigation unit examined and documented the area, collecting evidence that could help reconstruct the events leading to the fatal incident.

The body was subsequently taken to City Mortuary, where it was awaiting a postmortem examination to establish further details about the cause of death.

Bloodstained Maasai Sword Recovered

During the investigation, detectives recovered a bloodstained Maasai sword suspected of having been used in the attack.

The weapon was taken into police custody and secured as an exhibit for further forensic analysis.

Investigators are expected to examine the evidence as they work to determine whether the weapon was used in the killing and establish any links to the suspects.

Forensic findings could form part of the evidence considered as the case proceeds through the criminal justice system.

Suspects Arraigned as Investigations Continue

The DCI has confirmed that both suspects have been arraigned in court, although detectives are continuing their inquiries into the circumstances of Mwangangi’s death.

The ongoing investigation is expected to focus on the evidence collected at the scene, the recovered weapon and any other information that could help establish what happened.

The arrest of the two men marks a development in the case, but the allegations against them remain subject to the judicial process.

The DCI also conveyed its condolences to Mwangangi’s family, friends and colleagues following his death.

As the case progresses, the focus will remain on establishing the facts and ensuring that the evidence is examined through the appropriate legal channels.

Behind every crime report is a family left searching for answers, and for Paul Mwangangi’s loved ones, the hope now rests on a thorough investigation and a fair judicial process.
