Main Story

Student Found Dead at Home

An 18-year-old Form Four student has been killed in a suspected murder at her home in the Kiambaa area of Molo, Nakuru County.

The deceased, Joy Wangui, was reportedly left at home by a relative who had gone to a nearby shop.

When the family member returned on Sunday, October 4, Wangui was found dead inside the house.

Police officers who arrived at the scene discovered her body in the kitchen, lying in a pool of blood.

Weapons Recovered at Scene

Detectives recovered several weapons from the scene as they began processing the house.

An axe, a panga and two knives were reportedly found near the body, with police saying the items appeared to have blood stains.

Wangui’s head was later discovered in a corridor within the house.

Investigators also reported finding a disturbing message written on a wall using blood and a finger.

The message allegedly read: “I love you, Joy, but never cheat. I am sorry.”

Police are examining the message as part of their efforts to establish what happened and identify the person responsible.

Suspect Still at Large

Preliminary investigations have led police to identify a suspect believed to have fled immediately after the killing.

The suspect had not been arrested by the time of the report, prompting police and other security officers to launch a search.

Detectives are expected to rely on forensic evidence, witness accounts and other findings from the scene as they work to trace the suspect.

The alleged relationship angle remains part of the preliminary investigation and has not been established as the confirmed motive for the killing.

Body Taken to Mortuary

Crime scene investigators processed the house and collected items believed to be relevant to the investigation.

Wangui’s body was subsequently moved to the Molo Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is expected to undergo a postmortem examination.

The examination could provide additional information to investigators as they work to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding her death.

Investigations Continue

Police have continued with efforts to locate and arrest the suspect as investigations into the killing proceed.

Authorities are expected to establish the events leading up to Wangui’s death and determine whether the evidence gathered at the scene supports the preliminary theories being considered.

The killing has also renewed concerns over violent relationship disputes and the need for conflicts to be addressed before they escalate into deadly confrontations.

As detectives search for answers, Wangui’s death is a painful reminder of how quickly unresolved conflicts can turn deadly and why early intervention can sometimes mean the difference between a dispute and a tragedy.
