Things are changing in the Nairobi CBD and county at large as new initiative measures are being introduced.
Lately, Nairobi County Council Chief Environment Officer Geoffrey has been making rounds in Nairobi to see how the small-scale traders are maintaining hygiene, only to stumble into the unexpected by realizing that smokie and mayai Pasua vendors usually store their business carts on public toilets.
Now he just met people urinating everywhere in the streets of Nairobi and decided to use them as an example by taking them in and assigning them different duties so that they would never repeat the same act again.
Speaking to the press, the Chief Officer of Environment said that it is something he wants people to stop doing because many are misbehaving and ruining the clean environment with the pungent smell of them urinating anywhere and whichever way they please.
Those who were apprehended were taken in, and some have been assigned to clean different parts of Nairobi Government premises.
“Kuna wale wameenda kufyeka Uhuru park, kuna wale wameenda kufagia tao na kuna wale wameenda kuosha city morturay Nairobi Funeral Home, kufagia na kuosha, tunataka kuona usafi, Nairobi Ing’are
Hii iwe funzo kwa wengine, tunataka kuona wakiwajibika yule ambaye atapatikana anavunja sheria tutawashika tutawapeleka ndani na magistrate atawahukumu.” Geoffrey, Chief Officer, Environment, said:
He lastly stressed the need for the public to be their ears and eyes in ensuring that they warn those who will be polluting the environment, reminding them of the consequences of doing so, as that is the only way they will help keep the city clean.
“Tunataka watu wakuze mazingira na nyinyi mutakua ambassadors wetu mukiona mtu anafanya hivo mnamkataza.” Goffrey Mosiria said:
