Yeah, you heard it right. Trolleys are being stored in public toilets.

Nairobi Chief Environment Goffrey Mosiria condemned the act while exposing trolleys that had been stored at the public toilets, saying it is undescent and it is risking the lives of many netizens that are consuming their food.

“Choo ambayo inatumiwa kwa haja ndogo na haja kubwa unapata mtu ameeka trolley ya kuuza mayai kwa cho aty ni store na hapo kando watu wanajisaidia hapo, hiyo ni hatia kabisa.”

This alarming practice poses significant health risks, as public toilets are breeding grounds for harmful bacteria and pathogens.

When the trolleys are stored in such unsanitary places, they become highly susceptible to contamination, potentially leading to foodborne illnesses. The officers emphasized the importance of adhering to proper hygiene standards, particularly in food handling and storage, to protect public health. 

“Tumechukua hatua, tukachukua hizo trolleys tumezishika zote wenyewe wakuje wachukuliwe hatua. Kwa sababu si vizuri kabisa.”

The health officers also urged the public to be cautious when purchasing food from street vendors, reminding them that they should take the lead in ensuring that they take care of their health and be responsible in ensuring they don’t endanger their lives.

“Kila mtu awajibike ajue kwamba hiyo ni choo na huwezi store trolley hapo. Na ni poa watu wakue careful pia, tuchunge chakula tunakula katika streets zetu za city yetu na tuhakikishe tunachokila ni chakula kisafi.” Geoffrey Nairobi environment officer said.
