In a candid interview, YY spoke about the skepticism he faced, particularly from a critical uncle who doubted his comedic aspirations. “There’s this uncle of mine who told me, Hakuna chance yenye huyu jamaa ana… This guy is a thief, and he is going to be shot soon. “Bro, one of the reasons I worked hard was for people to treat my mom with respect… I have seen a lot, and my mom has carried so many burdens on my behalf… My mom has been told words for things that I did that she did not tell me to do.
And so I always wanted people to be like,Pale ni kwa kina YY, and you know what? You have to put some respect on that name, and I’m glad when people say, Wewe ulifika usalimiangi watu, and I am like, Yeah, mama yangu alifika.” YY said.
