Why Today’s Protests will be history in the making (Details)

#Reject the 2024 Finance Bill is the language everyone is speaking as of now.

Almost everyone is not agreeing with the newly proposed Finance Bill, as the public has been rejecting it since day one.

Today, on Tuesday, 2024, the demonstrations that are going to take place are going to be like no other that have ever been held in this country, and here are the reasons why:

For one, unlike the usual way, today there will be protests in more than 10 counties. If my figure is right, there should be 11 good counties rejecting the Finance Bill. Below are the posters of the counties that will be on the streets rejecting the Finance Bill.

Second, this protest is not just like any other; it has been planned strategically. Led by the Gen Z’s, they have even agreed on the dressing attire and where they will be meeting so that to kick off the protests, this one has been planned strategically, and they have even talked of how to deal with casualties in case any of them are armed while holding their peaceful protests.

Third, yesterday, probably in the evening, there was a message issued by an anonymous person circulating on the internet that was telling the Kenyan government to respect the rule of law and the right to protest.

That is not all; the message also had some sensitive parts that talked about the secrets that will be exposed should the Finance Bill pass.

Your secrets may no longer be safe, and there is a chance that all these secrets will be exposed to show how corrupt and unjust members of this parliament are embezzling public funds for personal gain.”

The message also encourages the citizens not to worry, to show up in numbers, and to keep rejecting the Finance Bill.

Fourth, the Kenyan President said yesterday that civil society is free to do as they please. “Civil society is free to do what they want to do; we are a democratic country; those who want to demonstrate, they can demonstrate it is their right; there’s no problem, but the decisions have to be made by institutions.”

Fifth, CNN correspondent Larry Madowo yesterday wrote on his page that he was flying to Kenya one more time to cover today’s protests.

Sixth, Quite a number of notable celebrity figures have promised they will turn up and walk with Kenyans on the streets rejecting the Finance Bill, which has motivated many who now want to join in, with one Kenyan artist, Juliani, suggesting that one carries a Bluetooth speaker so that they can be listening to music as they protest against the 2024 Finance Bill.

Seventh, those protesting will be protected by IG Koome, as Article 37 says in the constitution that it is their right to protest, and they also have the support of other high-end government officials and lawyers as well.

Those are some of the reasons that make today’s protests like no other that has ever been seen. #reject the Finance Bill is actually what is trending on Twitter (X), and people are still talking about rallying and preparing for how they will occupy parliament and rally the streets today. The goal is to be heard so that the 2024 Finance Bill is rejected. The public doesn’t agree with amends and just wants the whole bill to be rejected or otherwise!

Strap up and be safe!!!!
