Kuppet teachers held a nationwide strike in the streets, refusing to go back to school and teach despite Knut’s directive that had asked them to stand down.
They have said they will not return to school until their demands are heard.
The strike comes in the wake of mounting frustration among educators over unresolved grievances that thay claim TSC failed to address.
Some of these please include a demand for better working conditions, promotions and the harmonisation of allowances.

Below are some of the other reasons why they have refused to return to school:
The government has failed to keep the promise it made to them.
The strike will continue so long as the promotion of 130 teachers is not done.
The Collective Bargain Agreement (CBA) has not been implemented.
The TSC has failed to limit their 30% deductions
Their medical cover is not looked at.
They want the TSCs confirmed.
They don’t want the government to come up with strategies for making teachers interns and privatising them.
In general, Kuppet has urged its members to stand firm until a satisfactory agreement is reached.
